A novel CAD–C glue consisting of collagen and citric acid derivative (CAD) was Blazer Nike developed. CAD works as a crosslinking reagent of collagen. We prepared CAD by modifying three carboxyl groups of citric acid with N-hydroxysuccinimide in the presence of 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethyl aminopropyl) carbodiimide hydrochloride. Basket Blazer Bebe Bonding of this glue to collagen casings increased up to a CAD concentration of 100 mM, then decreased, becoming 50% of the maximum within 5 min, then increased with time and saturated within 10 min. The maximum bonding strength of this glue was 11 times higher than that of fibrin-based glue and similar to that of aldehyde-based glue. Excellent biocompatibility and resorbability were observed even after its subcutaneous injection into the backs of mice, indicating its applicability as a soft-tissue-bonding reagent.
Fish lens transmission was found to vary depending on the type and concentration of short-wave absorbing compounds present within the Basket Nike Blazer Mid lens. Pigments extracted from lenses of ten species were identified as mycosporine-like amino acids (mainly palythine, palythene and asterina-330, λmaxs around 320–360 nm) which are also thought to be present in the majority of the 120 species examined here. A novel mycosporine-like pigment with λmax 385 nm was isolated from the lens of the flying fish, Exocoetus obtusirostris, while lenses of several closely related tropical freshwater species were found to have high concentrations of the tryptophan catabolite 3-hydroxykynurenine (λmax 370 nm). The type of lens pigment a species possesses and its concentration depends upon both the animal's phylogenetic group and its “optical niche”.
